My Services
I offer online personalised tuition for primary students (ages 5-11) in Maths, English Language, and Phonics, using proven methods like Talk4Writing, White Rose Math, Read Write Inc, and Jolly Phonics. I also specialise in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL), providing tailored help to ensure every child thrives.
The lessons are designed to address specific learning needs through discussion, interactive activities, and clear modelling of new concepts, enhancing and developing students' knowledge and understanding. All lessons will be conducted in English using Pencil Spaces, an all-in-one platform that features a shared whiteboard for real-time collaboration. This platform is very user-friendly and easy for young students to navigate.
Both the student and tutor are able to write, type, highlight and draw on the same document. Each session is diverse, dynamic and most importantly, fun!
Each 50-minute lesson starts with a quick 'getting to know you' activity or a recap of previous lessons. We then set clear learning objectives and I provide explicit modelling to guide your child. The lesson includes interactive activities with real-time feedback to ensure progress, and ends with a fun game to reinforce learning.

Each online tutoring session provides personalised support to help your child catch up, reinforce missed topics, or focus on specific areas of need. Lessons typically include an introduction to new content, guided practice, independent tasks, and a recap with feedback and targets for improvement. Follow-up activities can also be provided upon request.
Package Options: 5 or 10-Lesson Packages

For those looking for ongoing support, I offer discounted 5 or 10-lesson packages. The first lesson includes an initial assessment to evaluate your child's current level and identify key areas for improvement. Based on this, I’ll create personalised lessons to guide their progress. After each lesson, you’ll receive a brief summary and tailored feedback, with suggestions for follow-up activities or homework if requested. Lessons can be scheduled within 3 months (90 days) from the purchase date when buying a bundle of 5 or 10.

General Guidelines

No-Shows / Same-Day Cancellations: If you need to cancel on the same day or miss your session, the full session rate will apply. Please remember that I work in GMT, so be sure to adjust your booking times to match. Thank you!
1:1 Single Sessions

Full Refund: You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. Please email me at mscatherine@brightowltutoring.com at least 24 hours before your session.

Late Cancellations: Cancellations made within 24 hours will not be refunded, as this is necessary to maintain my schedule and ensure fairness to other clients.
Package Bookings (5 or 10 Sessions)

Non-Refundable Packages: Once a package of 5 or 10 lessons is paid for, it is non-refundable. However, individual lessons within the package can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice.

Unused Lessons: Any unused lessons can be cancelled and rescheduled through your account, provided this is done at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson time.

Expiration of Package: Unused lessons in a package will expire 3 months (90 days) from the date of the first lesson, unless otherwise agreed upon.
Exceptions & Emergencies
I understand that emergencies happen (like illness or family issues). If something unexpected comes up, please reach out to me, and I’ll do my best to accommodate you, depending on availability.
Payments
All payments must be made in full through PayPal or card payment before the lesson(s). I offer online tutoring worldwide with flexible scheduling across time zones. Payments are processed in GBP, and international clients may see slight variations due to exchange rates. All prices are listed in Pounds Sterling.
Initial Free Consultation for New Clients:
For first time clients, I offer a complimentary 15-minute Zoom consultation to discuss your child's learning needs and goals. This session gives us the opportunity to discuss your child's unique strengths and challenges, and determine the most effective tutoring approach.

DBS Check and Update Service
At Bright Owl Tutoring, professionalism and student well-being are at the core of my practice. As a member of The Tutors’ Association, I adhere to industry-leading standards. I hold an enhanced DBS check and complete regular safeguarding training to ensure a safe, supportive environment for all students.
